Level 1- Intro to Sewing

Have you always wanted to learn how to sew? Do you have a sewing machine that is mocking you because you were to intimidated to take it out of the box? This is where we start your sewing adventure. In this 4 week course we will introduce ourselves to the world of sewing. We will learn the basic principals of sewing while completing 3-4 projects using the skills learnt. You will learn how to choose the right fabric and patterns for a project, how to use your sewing machine and even hand sewing.

Classes are every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 pm. Each course is 4 weeks long.

Level 2- Building on Basics

Building on the basics from Level 1. 

So you have learned the basics but want to expand your skill set, this is the course for you. On top of reinforcing the skills learned in Level 1, we will be diving into new skills including zippers, pockets, gathering, working with knits and more. Over the course of the 4 weeks we will complete 3-4 projects that showcase all the skills learnt including a zippered pouch, a gathered skirt and a tank top. 

Classes are every Wednesday from 7:30 to 9 pm. Each course is 4 weeks long.

CYOA - Choose Your Own Adventure

This course is designed with the confident beginner or intermediate sewist in mind.

Do you already know the basics and then some ? Have a project that you want to tackle but aren't feeling confident to tackle alone? This is the course for you.  You bring in the pattern and materials and I am at your disposal to help you walk through the whole process from start to finish. Need to add modifications, we can do that. Need to know how to match stripes or plaid, we can do that. Have a dream cosplay in mind and don't know how to bring it life, we can do that. Make your own fancy dress, swimsuit, lingerie, purse, complicated hoodie, whatever you want to work on. 

This course runs every Friday from 6:30 - 8 pm for 4 weeks.

Workshops

Knits 101

Welcome to the wonderful world of knit fabric.

In this workshop intensive we will be introduced to the many varieties of knit fabrics. We will learn which type is best for which application, tips and tricks for working with it, and so much more. We will be completing 3-4 projects depending on how fast we work through the course material. A serger is recommended but not necessary. Knit projects can be completed on regular sewing machine as well.

It is recommended that you complete Level 1 and 2 prior, Serger 101 is recommended but not necessary.

Workshops are 6 hrs over the course of a day from 10-4

Serger 101

Learn how to use your serger.

A serger is a versatile machine for construction and finishing. However it can be very intimidating with all the threads and configurations. Lets take the mystery out of it and start the mastery instead. In this workshop intensive we will learn the basics of serger use, including threading, changing functionality and versatility of use. We will complete 3-4 projects depending on how fast we work through the steps.

It is recommended that you have completed Sewing Level 1 and 2 prior.

Workshops are 6 hrs over the course of a day from 10-4

Studio Membership

Studio Membership is $20/month. Studio membership allows access to the studio for sewing purposes outside of scheduled class times and projects. Membership valid for 30 days from purchase.

Stitch & Bitch

Monthly Stitch & Bitch gathering. 

$5 fee reserves spot and goes toward snack fund

Bring your machine, supplies and intended project to work on while engaging with the dynamic group around you. We will talk sewing, we will talk life and we will talk about just about anything. Discrimination or hate speech of any kind will not be tolerated.

Optional mystery challenge project available

Stitch & Bitch takes places at the studio on the last Friday of the month from 8-10 pm 

All courses and workshops are non refundable. Courses/workshops are transferable up to 24 hrs prior to scheduled start time. Please include preferred email for course info contact in your order notes.

The Studio is located at Lord Simcoe Place at 57 Simcoe St S, Unit 2C in Oshawa. Just south of King St and north of the Automotive museum. Lots of street and municipal parking. Steps from transit.
